Awesome finds gentlemen....gotta love a good guitar solo. And when the hell did Yngwie put on the extra 100lbs.?

I saw her about 12 years ago playing and my knees got weak instantly. First electric violin I'd ever seen and it rocked. |

That's total crap ... SOC. You know damn well Miss Mae would look better "sammiched" between Dolly and I.
XP I'm impressed, dude! Someone that's actually heard of Vanessa Mae. Maybe that concert you saw her do was responsible ... eh?
Apocalyptica ... You may have seen mention of them in the "Hot Times Tunes" tread. Been a fan of their for a couple of years now. Try THIS concept ... see if you like it.

If you come across that incredible solo of a live version of Still In Love With You, please be so kind to point it out!
I'm also looking for Marty Friedman playng any of the tunes in Dragon's Kiss. I have the album but would love to watch the guy play it. Has to be my favorite guitarist.
BTW, my sister is a big fan of Apocalyptica. Never did it for me. I still prefer Enter the Sandman by Metallica. It's great for when I'm driving and late for something.
That 11yo kid shows a lot of promise! Someone should invest in him. |

TOE JAM... That was very funny!
It takes a few years to learn to play that well with your hands...how long do you think this guy had to practice to learn to do what he does? The guy should be an inspiration to all of us... |

Really? I think she's kinda cool. Ummm ... no maybe not kinda ... just cool, period. She's got some GTA area roots, you know! Good for her!
Once in a rare while, at least in my own reality, a song comes along that just grabs me and won't let go for a few day/weeks. Last Thursday, was in the car and this tune came on that I crank right to the edge of distortion. Remembered the "likely title", got home, did a lime search! Nadda!
Late Saturday night, (early Sunday morning) ... on our way home from a party ... radio was on and THAT song came on once more. Now it was the second time I was hearing it, and ... up went the volume right to the edge of distortion, again.
Hunted, dug, reached ... talked to some "music experts" and finally found the title.
Does THIS catch you? It's got me ... hook, line and singer!

Been hearing that song for a couple of months now, E.
It had the same effect on me when I first heard it.
I wanted to know the name of it and hear it again. |

I heard this song again this morning and I too crank up the volume. I was thinking to myself, believe it or not, that it would be a good song for this thread. There's just something about the distortion in the rythm guitar...

E, just jot down the time, date and station and fire off an email to the station. They will respond with a cpl songs played at that time of day/night! |

Hey E, check out DJ Champion's website...you might enjoy the 2nd song as well, it also has a catchy beat to it...although from a song writing perspective not too complicated...

BTW, has anybody heard if Gabriel plans on joining the Genesis reunion that's supposed to happen?

I hear ya, Y. Used to drive me nuts in the 80's, but I've mellowed somewhat since then.
Speaking of "finger nails running down a chalkboard" ... Genesis reunion! ... Phil Colins!
Could never, ever, for the life of me, figure out how Genesis continued on after the true genius behind the band, Peter Gabriel, was forced to quit.
Would much rather see Peter Gabriel perform his solo material than see him on a stage with that human drum machine who is P.C. Heck, I'd rather see Mike and the Mechanics than Genesis without Peter Gabriel.
Yeah, is true! Chocolate and Vanilla. But "they" do come that size in "vanilla" too, you know.

Hey E, didn't listen to much Genesis with PG in the band...fell in love with the self titled album...you know the one...
1. Mama
2. That's All
3. Home by the Sea
4. Second Home by the Sea
5. Illegal Alien
6. Taking it all too Hard
7. Just a Job to Do
8. Silver Rainbow
9. It's Gonna Get Better
That was pretty much my first real exposure to the band...I was 15 I think! Saw them in concert for that tour...what a light show!! |

Yep, P.C. needed every bell, every whistle, every trick in the book to "mask" the fact that "The Genius" was no longer in the band!
Oh how everyone remembers that "spectacular" light show.

This was moved to Hell's Kitchen but I cleaned it up and brought it back here.
I've done a bunch of deleting and a small edit to keep a quote out that no longer exists, but here is the post, pretty much back in a state that I am sure will keep the music fans contented.
Now stay on topic, guys (and gals if any are participating). |

You're not hatin on Phil Collins are ya E?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Dwe3gN9aDQ
If I remember correctly, there was this one time, at band camp, where this song actually brought me to tears! How does that story go again? Phil saw this guy who could have saved some other dude from drowning, but didn't and at he invited that guy to his concert and sang this song to him and the guy broke down right there!!
I believed it when I was younger, before the internet came along to clear up things like this!

Hell no.
And ... In the Air Tonight was, in my opinion, Phil's moment of glory! A Classic.
After the Gabriel split, (a one upsmanship creative ego thing between P.C. and P.G.) ... I kind of always held onto the belief that this song was about hate ... the likes of which only matters of the ego can inspire. To me it's always been about the break-up of Genesis.
It was the same kind of hate that John and Paul had for one another when the Beatles broke up. Remember John's "How Do You Sleep"? He was "talking" to Paul all the way!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCJhe9E1Wlo
... and what was Paul's response ... ummmm ... can't remember. It'll come to me. |

Three of, arguably, the best axe-men in the business covering Jimi's Red House, live ... from about 10 years ago.
Eric Johnson ... what a fine job he does on vocals!
