Been thinking about getting one...Been going to tat parlors for a few months now just flipping through the books looking for one that I would decorate my body for the rest of my life...Reason I never took the plunge is basically because we all go through stages in our lives...What seems important to us when we are 20, seems less important when we are 25...I'm really glad I didn't get some tattoos that I had contemplated getting throughout the years...Simply because today they would just be meaningless artwork!! If a person decided to decorate their body, they do so knowing it is basically forever!!
What is your favorite tattoo...would you get one? Do you have one? I found one that looks pretty damn tasty...and I bet it just loves bananas!! |

I think just about everyone I know has a tattoo but they have just never interested me. My tastes change so much over the years that I can't imagine being too happy with myself years later for my "permanent" body enhancement. The other thing that often puts me off is I try to imagine myself quite a bit older and think about how that tattoo might distort (that can put you off a lot of things ) |

I have a leg piece that has been an ongoing process for the last year, in deciding to get a tatt done I shopped around with the idea I had in mind for the past 5 years or so, looking through books is ok but a good artist will take your original idea/thought and will work your vision to come up with what you want.....my tatt guys end product on paper far surpassed the vision I had for it.
I think most artist get bored and uninspired when customers walk in and flip through a book and say "I want that one"
"Too Fast To Live" is a great shop on the south east corner of Dixie and Dundas
Now I guess I better get a session to finish this piece as I already have the next one mocked up....and YES they are addicting |

My husband and I both have tattoo's but I have to say where and what are completely different and his cannot all be hidden.
When we are taking the kids to the Y he has a naked woman (that looks like me although I was 2 years old when he got it) on his arm I feel guilty when I notice a parent or another child seeing it. also another on the other arm that was a botched replica of his dog. Finally he has one on his hand his right hand at that. The story of getting it is great and it matches his cousins in Austrailia but it a scorpio and he's a leo it always noticable when you shake hands and I know he regrets getting it.
Having said that once you got one or two whatever there isnt much you can do about them and even if you end up hating it as he does you just can't think about it that way why? beacsue its to late. so, I agree think long and hard about where and what and the size morph's as your body changes and you also change as a person. Removal does not always work and often leaves a scar worse than the tattoo, but for Wilderness thinking of getting one there are new inks that they have created that respond to the laser removal well and you can request for those inks to be used.
My tattoo is on my toe and another very small one just above my left butt cheek both hidden the majority of the time a barely noticable even when naked. perfect for me.
Only you can decide what is right for you! |

I have to agree with Yawanna, be original don't get something from one of the books. speak to a good artist and have something drawn for you..Placement of your ink is just as an important thought as what you are inking.Things to consider are: depending on the image whether you are comfortable with it being visible all the time,,how much pain do you think you can manage? and least of all size of your tattoo, because we all know size matters
Myself I have 5, all are large and all can be hidden, if I really want them to be, and all are original..some hurt alot more then others, depends where on the body you put it, and all my work is done by the same dude.Another thing, don't drink before getting your ink as alcohol thins the blood and therefore pushes the ink out as you get tattooed. Sit back and enjoy the feel of the tattooists needle..and yes I agree 100% addictive..this fall should see my next piece of work..

I like tats and have 6. The last place I got inked was luckey 13 on Bloor just down from Eds, the dudes name is Gary. Am feeling the need for some ink but the amount of money they want for a tat in Londonastan is outragious so I will probably wait till I come home. There is a former PDR dude who does wicked work and I will try to find a link to his studio for ya. |

Leave it to a proctologist and an Irishman to turn a tattoo thread into a fishing contest...Keep it on track would ya...I was shamelessly promoting our next event on Sat Aug 25th just a few moments ago!! Tattoos and a Night In The Wilderness...Hmmm, come to think about it...wasn't it an impromptu appearance volunteering to emcee a tattoo contest a year ago that started the Night In The Wilderness to begin with!!! |

Yikes! I wonder if she has any problems trying to find people to make out with her "monkey"! That's a wee bit creepy if you ask me.
I have a small tattoo on my lower back and Mr. Mizmar has 4 (all larger than my little one!). I quite like tattoos on either sex (a woman with a monkey crotch might not do it for me though, but I believe I've gone over that already. ). I have a little black silhouette of a fairy that I picked out of a book the day I went when I was 19. I picked it because it was still fairly feminine and I enjoy fantasy books and video games (so now you all know how much of a geek I really am!). Is that lame? Yeah probably, but I still like it, so I must have done something right! Plus being where it is, I don't have to look at it all the time. The way I see it, you can pick something out of a book or online as long as it has somewhat of a meaning to you. It can be a lame, yet long lasting interest like mine, or something more important like a memorial to someone you've lost in the past, for example. Turn on an episode of Miami Ink or Inked and you might get some inspiration! |

For me personally I have played with the idea of getting a tattoo for probably 20+ years.
I think in the end I just find them sexy on someone else and not on me!
Like many, I just could not make up my mind as to something I want put on my body for the rest of my life. And, as a woman...sorry ladies...we expand and deflate way too much over the years!
My eldest caught the tattoo bug about a year ago. At the mere age of 21 she has committed herself to an ankle, a shoulder, and most of her back.
While yes the artwork is creative and well done...what she thought was kewl today will be garbage tomorrow. And yes that does worry me.
I wish that there was a way to place a temporary tattoo on someone for a period of a year or so before they committed to the permanent ink.
Then, and I think only then would I ever mark myself.
Just my opinion.

To me it had to have a special meaning, My father past away a couple of years ago, he was right into the Legion and was in the Air Force it ment a lot to him. My brother is in the Army so i made up a crest for the airforce (early 50's style) and added crossed swords (the sign for Army) and had it put on my chest 11x6 cm.over my heart where he will always be |

Hey Y, that's great news. I think a twistedtree on your back is enough thanks,,
All my tats done at Art Addictions, it's in Brampton, great friendly place, clean, they snip the needles right there in front of you when he's done. I actually have an appointment this afternoon to add a few cherry blossoms on my foot, then I think i'm done,, |

I got my back butterfly at Art Addictions in Brampton a few years back.
I was impressed with the cleanliness and the habit of cutting the needles up, while you watch, when they are done.
Yes Y, they are at 41 Queen St E. |

Yep, On Queen, They even give you the opportunity for a smoke break or add money to the parking meter. And if you really can't take the pain they have this numbing cream that takes the edge off, which I will admit I used today on my foot.

I got my first tattoo about 4 years ago - Tinkerbell has always been my favourite Disney character and I always wanted to have her somewhere on me. So I took the plunge and have never regretted it. She is always on my shoulder.....my magical guardian fairy!
I had my second one done in February of this year. I think tattoo's on the lower back - just above the ass - are very sexy. So I decided that would be the next spot. RDB always calls me his sexy lady - so that is what my tat says - in Chinese characters.
Unless my dad ever sees it - and then....its Chinese for my last name!! |
